Updated: Oct 26, 2022

What's hot in Egypt!

Historical Trends

It has become apparent that people are keen on going out to experience new restaurants and bars. This has become a trend since many standalone restaurants are opening bit by bit and more frequently than ever. Diners do not just go to experience any restaurant or bar, they go to experience a concept, an ambiance, and the full experience. From the design, décor, food concept, and menu, to beverages that are creatively mixed and presented, and most of all the music that is curated. A restaurant or a bar that ticks all the boxes is a place that will continue to attract guests.

Nowadays, there is fierce competition between standalone restaurants and hotels. People shy away from visiting hotels as they believe that hotels are too expensive, stiff in service, and not very creative.

Dining trends and meal periods

Dining out has become a trend, as diners are always looking for new experiences. Breakfast is mostly enjoyed during the weekends and many people are looking to eat traditional food on those days or try something completely new. Be it fool, falafel different types of eggs, cheese with tomato, 3ega you name it. On the other hand, some guests would like to try a restaurant with new breakfast ideas.

Diners usually have lunch after finishing their work and this is mostly time spent at home. On weekends, locals and residents tend to go out for lunch or brunch and mostly to a restaurant with an outdoor terrace or outside seating in order to enjoy the beautiful weather.

As for dinner, the trend is that you would dine in a restaurant or a bar with great food, service, and excellent music. Many restaurants nowadays change the mood from dinner to a lively night spot by dimming lights, and playing upbeat music which transforms the whole ambiance and experience.

In Egypt, we grow our own fruits and vegetables, this is considered an added value as many chefs prefer to use them over imported products due to their unique taste as well as availability in the market.
